In Just Three Words

I caught a segment on TV (don’t know which show it was) that featured people submitting comments in “just three words”. Some were touching – A woman and 2 children holding a picture of a man in combat gear and a sign with the words “We miss you”, some were humorous – A dog holding a sign that said, “I’ll be good”, some were thought provoking, “I’m so scared.”

This got me to thinking about what “just three words” statements would come to mind for proposal people.

I’ll prime the pump with one of mine – “That was fun!”

I look forward to hearing what comes to mind for you.

Some that immediately came to mind –
‘We can help’ for our sales reps who are stubborn about asking for help.
‘Oh, not again’ – feel free to substitute ‘oh’ for your choice of expletives for repeat offenders who insist on us working under the worst circumstances
‘Thanks so much’ – for those sales reps who value our work and tell their bosses that we can’t be replaced.
‘I am gone’ – for those of us who have had enough and have to walk away to retain our sanity – (shout out to Marc for losing the good fight!)

BJ, I appreciate your optimism, but the one that usually comes to my mind is, “Are you kidding???????”

“Are they kidding?” – for those really ridiculous turn around times or jump through hoops requirements
“I messed up” – when the sales rep realizes they sat on the RFP for two weeks before getting you engaged
“Pizza is here” -self-explanatory
Happy Hump Day!

Why use three words when one will do?
Focus!
Persevere…
Done!
Whew!
NO! – The dream word we never get to use.

We’ve not yet included salespeople’s favourite: “Cut the price!”

Here’s the same set of three words, presented two different ways making them either positive or negative, that could be said by client reviewing the proposal (offered to me by a fellow passenger on a recent flight.)

What you’d like to hear the client say – “This is it!”

What you don’t want to hear – “This is it?”
